How to prepare for your commercial inspection.
Before
- Send your inspector your specific questions or concerns.
- Realtors/Sellers: Make sure all areas of the property are easily accessible.
During
- Don’t be shy. Your inspector is happy to answer your questions and concerns as they occur to you. There are no bad questions.
- Ask your inspector to explain all of your property’s operating requirements, including: how the heating system works, how to turn on appliances, and how to check for maintenance issues in the future. Find out now so you’re not confused later.
- Discuss with the inspector items such as deferred maintenance, roof condition, items or systems that are on the roof (e.g. air conditioners) that are not normally visible and might need scheduled attention.
After
- Read your commercial inspection report thoroughly. Your inspector will review this with you to answer any questions.
