An important factor when it comes to animal or rodent deterrents is learning what animal is causing the problem, then you can find out the best ways of removing it from your property. Its probable that the animal is attracted to a food source. This could even be certain plants or shrubs you have planted. If this is the case, the best deterrent is to get rid of the food source.
Another method to try is a barrier designed to keep wildlife out. You could also try placing some type of repellent around the property. This doesn’t necessarily need to be chemical but could be a noise the creature is afraid of or a visual deterrent.
While it shouldn’t be the first option, trapping the animal and relocating it is another option. Before you consider this, contact your local wildlife or animal control agency for suggestions and guidelines on what to do. Finally ask yourself if the offending creature is really all that bad? Perhaps its not causing that much of a problem and would be easier to leave it alone.
